International Day for Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons 2026 Observed on 26 September
The United Nations observed the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons on 26 September 2026 to mobilise multilateral commitment towards global disarmament. The 2026 observance carried heightened strategic urgency following the lapse of the US-Russia New START Treaty on 5 February 2026 without an alternative pact.
