DRDO Successfully Flight Tests Indigenous VSHORADS in Odisha
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) completed three consecutive successful trials of the Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS).
The tests were held at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the Odisha coast, using a Man-Portable Air Defence System (MANPADS) configuration.
VSHORADS is designed to eliminate low-altitude aerial threats like drones, fighter aircraft, and helicopters using advanced miniaturized technologies.
Significance: These successful trials reinforce the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision by providing all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces with a self-reliant short-range defense shield.
