BARC and NPCIL Collaborating to Develop Indigenous 220 MW Bharat Small Modular Reactors
The project is a joint venture between BARC and the Nuclear Energy Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) with an estimated cost of ‡5,960 crore.
This development is part of the Union Budget 2025-26 Nuclear Energy Mission, which has been allocated ‡20,000 crore for small-scale nuclear projects.
These modular reactors are designed to be more cost-effective and faster to deploy compared to traditional large-scale nuclear power plants.
