India's Unemployment Rate Drops to 4.9% in February 2026

According to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) by the NSO, India's overall unemployment rate for persons aged 15 and above declined to 4.9% in February 2026.
Urban unemployment showed a marginal recovery, dropping to 6.6% from 6.7% in the previous month.
Rural unemployment remained steady at 4.2%, indicating stable employment conditions in agricultural and non-urban sectors.
Notably, the female unemployment rate saw a significant decline from 5.6% in January 2026 to 5.1% in February 2026.
