RBI Exempts Specific FCNR (B) Deposits from CRR and SLR Maintenance Requirements

The Reserve Bank of India announced that fresh Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) [FCNR(B)] deposits with a minimum tenure of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years will be exempted from CRR and SLR maintenance.
This regulatory relaxation applies to both newly mobilized deposits and those renewed upon maturity starting from the amendment's effective date up to September 30, 2026.
This directive follows the 'Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Cash Reserve Ratio and Statutory Liquidity Ratio) Second Amendment Directions, 2026'.
