UNCTAD Report Crowns India as the World's Leading Ship Recycling Nation in 2025
With this achievement, India has met its target set under the 'Maritime India Vision 2030' five years ahead of the original deadline.
India's global share in ship recycling rose significantly to 35.4% in 2025, up from 30.1% in 2024. The total volume of recycled ships surged by nearly 60%, reaching 2.99 million gross tonnes compared to 1.86 million gross tonnes in 2024.
