Civil Aviation Ministry Launches Air Suvidha 2.0 to Bolster International Health Surveillance
This upgraded contactless digital platform implements a Passenger Health Self-Declaration (PHSD) system for all arriving international travelers to monitor potential communicable risks.
The portal was deployed as an immediate precautionary response to the World Health Organization's (WHO) declaration of the Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
Arriving passengers are mandated to report a comprehensive 21-day travel history and potential exposure histories via the portal up to 24 hours prior to landing in India.
This initiative is developed and supervised by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to fortify entry-point disease screening.
