Renowned Pandavani artist Dr. Teejan Bai has passed away. She belonged to Ganiyari village in the Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
She was a trailblazer, being one of the first women to perform the traditionally male-dominated Kapalik style of Pandavani folk theatre.
Pandavani is an ancient storytelling performance focusing on character narratives from the epic Mahabharata, specifically focusing on the Pandavas.
Her immense cultural contributions earned her numerous prestigious honors, including the Padma Vibhushan.
