India and Japan Enter Milestone Co-Development Pact for UNICORN Naval Mast System
The primary project under this pact focuses on the joint production of UNICORN (Unified Complex Radio Antenna), an advanced shipborne integrated communication mast.
While developed initially by Japan’s NEC Corporation, the UNICORN mast will be manufactured locally in India by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in collaboration with Japanese partners.
This pact marks a shift from a buyer-seller relationship to a collaborative co-development model, strengthening the maritime security framework in the Indo-Pacific region.
