Uttarakhand Named India’s Sixth Fully Literate State Under ULLAS Initiative

Uttarakhand has achieved the mandatory adult literacy benchmarks under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, becoming India's sixth fully literate state.
The state attained this milestone via the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) initiative, also known as the New India Literacy Programme (NILP).
With this milestone, Uttarakhand joins Mizoram, Goa, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim in the elite group of fully literate states.
Mizoram was the pioneering state to achieve full literacy under this national literacy framework, recording a literacy rate of 98.2%.
Exam Perspective: This progress highlights the government's systematic push toward achieving universal functional literacy and enhancing life skills for non-literate adults.
