India Tops Medal Tally with Five Gold Medals at 56th International Physics Olympiad

India achieved a historic feat at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026, held in Colombia, by securing five Gold medals.
This stellar performance placed India jointly at the top of the medal table alongside China, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Korea, and Taiwan.
This marks only the second time in India's history that all five participants won Gold medals at the IPhO, with the first instance occurring in 2018.
The gold-winning Indian contingent comprised Kanishk Jain, Riddhesh Anant Bendale, Rishit Garg, Shresth Suraiya, and Svarit Joshi.
