Lakhanpur, located in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, has been chosen as one of the pioneer towns in India for a modern Street Food Hub under the PM SVANidhi initiative.
The project is directed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to provide organized, hygienic spaces for street vendors.
The Central Government is providing a dedicated financial grant of ₹4 crore for this transformation project.
Funding will be distributed progressively: an initial 30% instalment, followed by 50% during active implementation, and the remaining 20% post-successful completion.
An additional incentive of ₹25 lakh will be granted to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) that successfully register and notify a formal Street Vending Plan.
