Noted Tamil Poet R. Vairamuthu Conferred with the Prestigious 60th Jnanpith Award

Eminent Tamil poet, lyricist, and novelist R. Vairamuthu has been selected for the 60th Jnanpith Award for the year 2025, recognizing his outstanding contribution to Indian literature.
With this achievement, Vairamuthu becomes only the third Tamil literary icon to receive this honor, following in the footsteps of Akilan and Jayakanthan.
As part of the accolade, the laureate will receive a cash prize of ₹11 lakh, a bronze replica of Goddess Saraswati (Vagdevi), and an official citation.
