RBI Revokes Paytm Payments Bank Licence; Delhi High Court Appoints Official Liquidator

The Reserve Bank of India cancelled the banking licence of Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) under Section 22(4) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, with effect from April 24, 2026.
Girikumar M. Nair, former Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, was designated as the Official Liquidator for PPBL by the Delhi High Court.
The Delhi High Court took this step following an application submitted by the central bank seeking the official winding-up of the payments bank.
