Union Ministry Extends PM E-DRIVE Scheme Framework Until FY 2027-28
Financial support for electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) received an enhancement of nearly ₹1,000 crore, raising its total allocation to ₹2,767 crore to target support for over 45.79 lakh vehicles.
Under the revised parameters, e-2W buyers receive ₹2,500 per kWh of battery capacity up to a maximum ceiling of ₹5,000 per vehicle, applicable to models with an ex-factory price under ₹1.5 lakh.
The earlier Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS)-2024, which operated between April and September 2024, has been fully subsumed into the PM E-DRIVE scheme.
Significance: The extended timeline and elevated budget aim to bolster domestic EV manufacturing, charging infrastructure, and public adoption across urban centers.
