India Partners with UNESCO to Launch Classroom Clean Sport Toolkit
India has partnered with UNESCO to implement the Sport Values in Every Classroom Toolkit across Indian schools. The agreement was exchanged during the NADA India Clean Sport Conclave in New Delhi to instill fundamental integrity and values through physical education.
What happened
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India Clean Sport Conclave held in New Delhi. The collaboration establishes an official partnership between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), the Ministry of Education (MoE), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi. Key officials in attendance included Dr. Tim Curtis (Director of UNESCO's Regional Office for South Asia), T.K. Anil Kumar (Secretary, Department of School Education), Hari Ranjan Rao (Secretary, Sports), Anant Kumar (Director General of NADA India), and Indian international javelin thrower Sachin Yadav.
The MoU introduces the 'Sport Values in Every Classroom Toolkit' across Indian schools to embed core values of clean sport—such as respect, integrity, fairness, equity, and inclusion—among schoolchildren aged 8 to 12 years. The curriculum uses physical education, sports, and everyday classroom activities to instill these fundamental values, with accompanying video modules made available in 13 Indian languages.
The initiative aligns with the objectives of the Khelo Bharat Niti 2025, which emphasizes the integration of sports and general education. Additionally, NADA India highlighted its recent performance during 2025-26, conducting over 7,000 tests and more than 350 education and awareness sessions reaching approximately 27,000 participants, alongside utilizing dietary supplement testing facilities at NFSU Gandhinagar and NIPER Hyderabad.
