PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen Win Titles at Hylo Open 2026

What happened

Indian badminton players PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen delivered stellar performances to secure both the women's and men's singles titles at the Hylo Open 2026, held from 27 October to 1 November 2026 at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken, Germany. The tournament is an official Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500 event with a total prize purse of US$ 500,000.

Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu won the women's singles title by defeating Denmark's Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt 21–12, 21–14 in straight games in 39 minutes. With this victory, Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win the Hylo Open women's singles crown, achieving the feat without dropping a single game throughout the tournament. This marked her second BWF World Tour title of 2026, following her win at the Japan Open in July 2026.

In the men's singles category, Lakshya Sen claimed the championship by defeating defending champion and world No. 6 Jonatan Christie of Indonesia 21–17, 21–10 in 39 minutes. This marked Sen's second Hylo Open title, having previously won in 2019 when the tournament was classified as a Super 100, making him the first Indian player to win two Hylo Open titles. This double title feat by Sindhu and Sen also marked the first time since the 2022 India Open that Indian shuttlers won both singles titles at a BWF Super 500 or higher tournament.
