Foundation Laid for India’s First Four Riverine Lighthouses in Assam

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation for India's first four riverine lighthouses to be built along the Brahmaputra River.
The ₹84 crore project involves constructing lighthouses at Bogibeel, Pandu, Silghat, and Biswanath Ghat under National Waterway-2 (NW-2).
These structures will use high-intensity lights to guide vessels and improve night navigation safety for inland water transport.
Impact: The initiative strengthens the infrastructure of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) to boost regional trade and tourism in the North East.
