IISc Launches Moonshot Project to Develop Brain Co-Processors
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has initiated a 'Moonshot Project' aimed at creating advanced brain co-processors for cognitive rehabilitation.
Funded by the Pratiksha Trust (founded by Kris Gopalakrishnan), the project integrates AI algorithms with neuromorphic hardware.
The primary focus is to help stroke survivors regain sensorimotor functions, specifically goal-directed reaching and grasping abilities.
The initiative involves two phases: developing non-invasive co-processors first, followed by minimally invasive implantable systems.
