Project GANGA: Uttar Pradesh to Provide High-Speed Internet to 20 Lakh Rural Households
The Uttar Pradesh government has launched 'Project GANGA' to bridge the digital divide by connecting 20 lakh rural households with high-speed internet within 3 years.
The project is expected to generate 1 lakh jobs and foster 8,000–10,000 Digital Service Providers, with a 50% reservation for women entrepreneurs.
One OTT Entertainment Ltd (Hinduja Group) has been selected as the implementation partner for this large-scale digital connectivity mission.
Significance: By focusing on rural and semi-urban areas, the project aims to decentralize IT employment and boost the rural digital economy.
