India's Cheetah Population Rises to 53 Following Birth of Five Cubs in Kuno
The cheetah population in India has reached 53 after a Namibian cheetah named 'Jwala' gave birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.
This birth marks the 10th successful litter on Indian soil since the inception of 'Project Cheetah' to reintroduce the species.
A total of 33 cheetah cubs have now been born in India as part of the restoration program, which includes cheetahs from Namibia, South Africa, and Botswana.
Exam Perspective: The successful breeding in Kuno indicates that the habitat conditions are increasingly suitable for the survival and growth of the translocated cheetahs.
