FSSAI Introduces Perpetual License Validity and Revised Turnover Thresholds
Based on NITI Aayog's recommendations, the 'Basic Registration' turnover limit has been significantly increased to ₹1.5 crore from the earlier ₹12 lakh.
Street vendors registered under the 2014 Street Vendors Act will now receive automatic FSSAI registration to simplify compliance.
State Licenses will now apply to businesses with turnovers up to ₹50 crore, while Central Licenses are mandatory for those above this limit.
These changes, effective April 1, 2026, are designed to enhance the 'Ease of Doing Business' and reduce the regulatory burden on small food operators.
