SEBI Unveils Framework to Classify Market Benchmarks as Significant Indices
An index attains 'Significant' status if the daily average cumulative AUM benchmarking it exceeds ₹20,000 crore for six consecutive months.
Once classified, an index retains this status unless the tracked AUM remains below the threshold for three consecutive years.
For the July–December 2025 period, SEBI has already identified 48 Significant Indices, including Nifty 50, BSE Sensex, and Nifty Bank.
