Union Cabinet Greenlights Major Rail and Airport Modernization Projects
This railway line will be the first Indian Railways project utilizing completely indigenous semi high-speed technology, targeting speeds up to 220 kmph, with completion set for 2030-31.
The Cabinet also approved the comprehensive modernization of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The land lease tenure held by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been extended beyond August 6, 2039, and allotted to MIHAN India Limited (MIL), which is a joint venture of AAI (49%) and Maharashtra Airport Development Company (51%).
These approvals aim to heavily boost regional logistics, industrial connectivity, and passenger transit efficiency in Western and Central India.
