SBI Ventures Designated as Manager for the ₹20,000 Crore Maritime Investment Fund
The Government of India has selected SBI Ventures, a subsidiary of the State Bank of India, to manage the newly established ₹20,000-crore Maritime Investment Fund (MIF).
The MIF operates as a crucial sub-segment under the broader ₹25,000-crore Maritime Development Fund (MDF) approved by the Union Cabinet to scale up port and maritime infrastructure.
The Central Government will back 49% of the corpus (₹9,800 crore) via budgetary allocations, while the remaining 51% will be raised from private players, public sector undertakings, and sovereign funds.
The vehicle will be structured as a closed-end Category I/II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) registered under SEBI to facilitate secure, high-impact long-term investments in India's maritime sector.
