Sikkim achieves fully literate state status under ULLAS initiative
The declaration aligns with the Central Government's ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) initiative, also known as the New India Literacy Programme (NILP).
The scheme targets 5 crore non-literate learners in the 15+ age group between FY 2022-27, with the national vision of 'Jan Jan Saakshar Bharat'.
Mizoram was the first state to achieve full literacy status under this particular initiative, boasting a literacy rate of 98.2%.
From an exam perspective, this highlights successful progress in national literacy programs and decentralized state-level achievements in social development.
