Ministry of Defence Approves Pioneer 250 MW Solar and Battery Storage Project on Defence Land in UP
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has sanctioned the construction of a large-scale 250 MW Solar Power Project equipped with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
To be constructed in Sitapur (Ex-Cantonment), Uttar Pradesh, this marks the first-ever massive clean energy project built entirely on vacant defence land.
The installation will occupy roughly 850 acres of vacant defence land and will be executed by NTPC Limited.
The project will be deployed in close coordination with the Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) and the Directorate General Defence Estates (DGDE), supporting India's military decarbonization targets.
