Defence Ministry Greenlights First Large-Scale Solar Power Project in Sitapur, UP
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved the deployment of a 250 MW Solar Power Project equipped with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
This project, set up in Sitapur (Ex-Cantonment), Uttar Pradesh, marks the first large-scale green energy venture designed on vacant defence lands in India.
Occupying approximately 850 acres, the clean energy infrastructure will be executed and maintained by NTPC Limited.
The initiative represents a vital component of India's target to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, leveraging underutilized military lands for high-capacity renewable generation.
