He broke Sachin Tendulkar's 37-year-old national record of being India's youngest debutant, which Tendulkar set in 1989 at 16 years and 205 days.
Sooryavanshi also replaced Washington Sundar (who debuted at 18 years and 80 days in 2017) as India's youngest men's T20I debutant.
The absolute world record for the youngest men's international cricket debut is still held by Pakistan's Hasan Raza, who debuted in 1996 at 14 years and 227 days.
