The Indian Navy launched 'Machilipatnam', the seventh vessel in the series of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW-SWC).
Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in Kochi, the vessel belongs to the indigenous Mahe class series designed for littoral combat.
The ship is equipped to conduct anti-submarine operations, search and rescue, and sub-surface surveillance in shallow coastal waters.
Inducting ASW-SWC platforms significantly reinforces India's coastal security and anti-submarine defence capabilities along its extensive coastline.
