ProTec General Insurance Secures IRDAI Registration as Fourth Insurer of 2026

IRDAI issued a Certificate of Registration (CoR) to ProTec General Insurance Limited, enabling it to operate as a general insurer.
ProTec is formed as a joint venture between the M Pallonji Group and private equity firm True North.
This marks the fourth insurance license granted in 2026, following approvals for Kiwi General Insurance, Prudential HCL Health Insurance, and Allianz Jio Reinsurance.
The approval comes under the backdrop of the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (SBSR) Act, which reformed foreign direct investment rules to permit 100% FDI in insurance.
Exam Significance: Demonstrates the ongoing regulatory push toward 'Insurance for All' by liberalizing licensing and foreign ownership caps.
