Inauguration of India's Inaugural Department of Military Medicine at Lucknow

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the country's first dedicated Department of Military Medicine at Command Hospital (Central Command) in Lucknow.
Operating under the Directorate General of Medical Services (DGMS), Indian Army, the department offers a Postgraduate (PG) programme in Military Studies.
Future phases will establish Centres of Excellence for HADR (Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief) and CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear & High-Yield Explosives) Defence.
Exam Significance: Strengthens specialized combat medical support, disaster relief management, and bio-defence capability within armed forces.
