Center Introduces e-Zero FIR Mechanism Across 18 States and UTs for Cyber Fraud Mitigation
The Central Government introduced an e-Zero First Information Report (e-Zero FIR) digital workflow across 18 States and Union Territories to accelerate action against online financial crime.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar confirmed that over 12,000 e-Zero FIRs have been registered since implementation.
System generation triggers automatically when financial fraud complaints exceeding set loss thresholds are logged via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) or the '1930' emergency helpline.
Once generated, the e-Zero FIR routes directly to the relevant local Cyber Crime Police Station; victims must physically confirm details at the station within 3 days to transition it into a regular FIR.
