Sashastra Seema Bal Director General Sanjay Singhal has been assigned the additional charge of Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. He takes over following the retirement of incumbent chief Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor on 31 October 2026.
What happened
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an office memorandum assigning the additional charge of Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police to senior Indian Police Service officer Sanjay Singhal.
Sanjay Singhal, who currently serves as the Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal, will assume his new responsibilities with effect from 31 October 2026. He will hold the additional charge until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
He steps into the role following the superannuation of the incumbent ITBP chief, Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, who retires from service on 31 October 2026.
