Union Cabinet Approves ₹23,731 Crore Outlay for GOBARdhan Bioenergy Scheme
The scheme will be implemented over a ten-year duration from FY 2026–27 through FY 2035–36 under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The policy mandates City Gas Distribution entities to procure Compressed Biogas with blending targets set at 3% in FY27, 4% in FY28, and 5% from FY29 onwards.
To provide market stability, the government established a guaranteed administered price of ₹2,110 per MMBTU for a minimum 10-year period.
Greenfield Compressed Biogas projects are eligible for financial support of up to ₹2 crore per Ton Per Day of operational capacity.
